Quick Tap

What is FasterEFT?

FasterEFT is a talking therapy created by Robert G. Smith (see www.fasterEFT.com). It involves gently tapping on a few points on the face and body (see diagram below). It enables me to show you how to release emotions, memories and past traumas, that cause you problems now. It can also release habits and phobias. It is a powerful self help tool for you to take into your future. This video explains more fully what it is and how to tap:

Why does tapping work?

Tapping works because it disrupts the flow of thoughts from the brain to the body. When we have a problem, our brain lets our body know how to respond by sending negative messages causing us fear, pain, worry etc. The specific points we tap on relate to the bodies' organs that are involved in the flight or fight response. Flight or fight is the classic evolutionary response that protects us from the dangers of the world. For example, in the distant past by alerting the cave man to the dangers of the wild bear in his path, and readying him to run, or fight. Our problems are our unconscious's way of protecting us - and tapping works to clear and reframe those problems, therefore creating balance and harmony.

What is the science behind tapping?

Tapping stems from the ancient (5,000 year old) Chinese healing modality of acupressure - which is the treatment of symptoms through pressing with fingers upon specific points on the body. The points used are the same as in Chinese acupuncture; which utilises needles to release symptoms and pain. In FasterEFT, the points we tap on each relate to a meridian that runs through the body - the meridians that activate when we are under stress via the flight or fight response. A meridian is like a pathway that allows the body - mind to communicate. These points are:

Between the eyes - bladder meridian

Side of eye - gallbladder meridian

Under the eye - stomach meridian

Under the collarbone - kidney meridian

Holding across the wrist - shortcut to all points on the hand - lungs, large intestine, circulation, heart, small intestine and triple warmer meridians

You might ask - what evidence is there that the Chinese meridian system exists? Research from 1985 proved just that - French doctor Pierre de Vernejoul showed the existence of meridian pathways that exactly match those used for thousands of years in China. He injected non-harmful radioactive material into acupuncture points, and using gamma-camera imaging, monitored the flow of this material around the body.

The Quick Tap (to be memorized, from a composite of Roberts video's)

Tap between the eyes :

I release and let go of all of my sadness'.

Tap on the side of the eye :

I release of all of my fears.

Tap under the eye :

I release and let go of all my emotional trauma's, all feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, all my trapped feelings, all my feelings of no control.

Tap on the collarbone :

I release and let go of all of my guilts, angers, abandonment, rejection, betrayal, frustration, and everything else. (add a tag of your own personal issues to release).

Take a nice deep breath, grab your wrist :

And say peace.

Move on to aiming at the individual aspects, seeing and feeling what it's like to let it go. Always end up with positive images, and a smile on the inside and outside.

FasterEFT Tapping Script

Written instructions for 'the quick tap' followed by the 'parts and pieces' tap.

Faster Eft Tapping Script "The Quick Tap"

Identify the problem:

  • Think about (or recall) the problem or event in detail. (Notice the emotions and specific images that support the problem).

  • Really associate (step into the memory, imagine yourself really there, see what you saw, hear what you heard and feel what you felt) 'The stronger you feel it the faster it goes'.

  • Give it a SUDs rating of how much you feel it. (Subjective Units of Distress) Zero you don't feel it at all, to ten - it's really bad.

The tree metaphor: Imagine a tree in front of you. If you were to pull the roots out from under the tree, what would naturally happen to a tree without roots? Tap the routine points, do not focus on the feeling or memory while you are tapping, just feel your fingers, whilst saying; "I release and let go of;
• All sadnesses
• All fears
• All emotional traumas
• All the anger
• Resentment Guilt
• Judgements
• Abandonments
• Betrayals
• Helplessness
• Hopelessness
• Feelings of no control
• Rejections
• Shame
• Secrets and anything else that supports this.
Let it all go. It's safe to let it go".
Take a deep breath, breath out, and say "Peace'!" (Think of a peaceful memory, really associate - step into the memory).
Re-check the problem and notice how it has changed.
Look for remaining emotional or physical reactions and use 'parts and pieces' on these.

Faster Eft Tapping Script "The Parts and Pieces Tap"

Use this technique to address parts and pieces left over from the Quick Tap, or as a routine method to instantly reduce emotions on a day to day, minute by minute basis. Identify the problem; Recognise that you have this problem, notice how you know it's there, and where and how it is felt in your body. (Note; it isn't necessary to name the problem, to understand it, or to analyse it).

JUST IDENTIFY THE FEELING.

Tap; Tap through the points, focus on and feel your fingers… And say: 'Let it go, let it go, let it go, let it go, let it go'. Take a deep breath and breath out, and say 'Peace'.

You can use other words that feel right for you; 'I release and let go'; 'let it all go'; 'it's safe to let it go'; 'it's no longer happening.' Return to the problem; Notice how it has changed. Notice what is left. Notice how you know there is something remaining. Focus on this and tap another round. Repeat this process until your SUDs rating is zero. Make it return; Try to make the problem return.

How EFT and FasterEFT (F-EFT) Are Alike

1. Both are universal healing tools that are based on the belief that the mind and body are one.

2. Both involve tapping. In a moment, I'll discuss the differing viewpoints as to why tapping works and what tapping accomplishes.

3. Both are relatively painless. Any emotional discomfort is minimal and lasts only a few moments. There is no need to relive all of the horrid details of earlier experiences that shaped our lives. Even if it does hurt, it's no worse than what we are doing to ourselves in our heads on a consistent basis. Done correctly in a session, a client relives the bad memory for the very last time.

4. Both approaches address the natural resistance that most people have to giving up familiar patterns and belief, although they do so in dramatically dissimilar ways. I'll have more to say about that in a moment.

5. Both have "stunning" success rates and produce profound and lasting results. Now, here's one of the reasons for my bias: EFT produces lasting results if you get to all the aspects associated with a troubling experience. F-EFT produces results because you're changing how the subconscious mind encodes, processes and reproduces events from the past. You're not just doing away with a negative experience, but rather you're getting rid of the way your mind keeps re-creating the problem.

6. Both empower people to take responsibility for their own healing, to tap on their own and not become dependent on therapists or practitioners for their healing.

7. Both were born of genius and guts. I think of genius as the ability to see through and simplify the complex. Most people would agree it takes guts to be able to challenge and break away from accepted belief systems, risking the scorn of one's mentors and peers.

Gary Craigi, founder of EFT, said he looked forward to a time that EFT would become obsolete because an even more elegant way of releasing issues had been discovered. Then, he said, he could retire. Gary has retired. I don't know if FasterEFT is the "more elegant way" he referred to.
